  7.     London's smash hit Miss Saigon will open on Broadway next
  8. April, but the musical is already striking discordant notes
  9. along the Great White Way. Asian-American actors object to
  10. Caucasian Jonathan Pryce's taking on the starring role of a
  11. Eurasian character. They are urging the producers to
  12. reconsider, even though Pryce has won raves in the West End.
  13. In a satiric number praising the American dream, Pryce sings,
  14. "Luck by the tail/ How can you fail?" It's an ironic question
  15. for Asian-American actors, who see the casting as a throwback
  16. to the "yellow-face" days of Charlie Chan.
